mystery of the world – The universe is shrouded in mystery. No matter how much science reveals about the universe, there always seems to be more to discover. Plus, as science and technology advances, our understanding of the universe will change.
It is possible that answers to questions about the universe that are currently being questioned by many could be revealed in the future. However, humans will of course be filled with deeper curiosity, giving rise to other questions.
What are the biggest mysteries in the universe that still raise questions today? Quoting World Atlas, here are the biggest mysteries of the universe that still attract the curiosity of many people.
1. How was the Universe Created?
The theory about the creation of the universe that many people currently believe in is the Big Bang. However, no one knows how the universe came to be before the Big Bang theory was proposed.
The reason why this question is still out is because the two theories that best describe our universe are in conflict with each other. These two theories are general relativity and quantum mechanics.
General relativity tells the universe at its largest scales, such as gravity and mass, while quantum mechanics describes the smallest aspects of our universe, such as atoms and subatomic particles.
2. Something Behind Black Holes
A black hole is an object whose gravitational pull is so strong that even light cannot escape past its point. Every black hole is surrounded by a region known as the event horizon, which is the limit beyond which the black hole’s escape velocity exceeds the speed of light.
Because light cannot escape from the event horizon, no information can escape from the black hole. This means that no matter how hard we try, there is no way to know what is happening beyond the event horizon.
3. Life in Another World
Until now, Earth is the only world we know of that has life. However, is there life on planets out there that we don’t even know exist?
Even though a lot of advanced technology has been created to find out about the universe, it doesn’t make it easy to find information about life outside Earth. The reason is, the universe is very vast and cannot be reached entirely by humans.
4. Early Life
The beginning of life from a scientific perspective can be seen from the fossil record and genetics to peer deep into Earth’s history and provide an accurate picture of how life has evolved over the last 3.8 billion years.
However, until now the question is ‘how can RNA and DNA as the smallest parts of living things exist?’ still can’t be answered. So, the beginning of life is still an unsolved mystery to this day.
5. End of the Universe
The universe is currently 13.8 billion years old, so we can say that it is possible that the Earth will continue to exist for trillions upon trillions of years. But we also cannot rule out the possibility that the universe could just end like that.
The universe could experience the extinction of living things one day, as some religions believe about the coming of the apocalypse. Although there are many good theories about how the universe will end, the information scientists have is too limited to know for sure.
These are the five mysteries of the universe that have not yet been revealed to this day. Do have other questions about this universe?
